This Cookie and Mobile Technology Policy (the “Cookie Policy”) is intended to inform you of how
Travelcation Ltd (operator of travelcation.uk) uses (a) “cookie” technology, and related technologies
such as pixel tags, on www.travelcation.uk and its mobile desktop equivalent travelcation.uk
(collectively, the “Website”) and (b) software development kits (SDKs) on the Travelcation.uk EU
mobile application (the “App”).
Please take a minute to read and understand this, Cookie Policy. This Cookie Policy should also be
read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions.
A “cookie” is a small text file that a web server saves on your computer or mobile device (and
maintained by your browser) when you visit a website. It often includes a randomized unique
identifier so that our website can remember your actions and preferences (such as log-in details,
language, font size, and other functionality) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep reentering them whenever you come back to the website or browse from one page to another. It may
also be used for analytics and marketing purposes, such as, example, generating analytics, such as
information regarding site visits, or retargeting visitors (such as displaying advertisements for such
website on other websites).
To learn more about cookies, please visit http://www.aboutcookies.org/.
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for our website to function properly and ensure our Services are
accessible to you (e.g., log-in functionality, load balancing, navigation, filling in forms).
Performance cookies allow us insight into metrics such as visit count, most to least popular pages, and traffic sources so we can optimize the performance of our website.
Functional cookies enable our website to provide enhanced features or settings based on your previous visits and selections, such as language preferences, remembering log-in details, remembering flight searches and filter settings, and other conveniences.
These cookies help ensure that we only show you relevant advertisements on our website and on other sites. Essentially, these cookies help us create, and analyse the effectiveness of, our marketing campaigns, limit the number of times you see an advertisement and track whether the advertisements have been properly displayed.
Analytics and personalization cookies allow us to analyse how you access and use our website in order to make our Services more useful and relevant to you. For example, we collect information concerning your booking or purchase history and other details, such as previous searches, to help provide more relevant travel options and deals for you based on the type of traveller you are.
These cookies are used to allow you to share or like our pages and content through third-party social media websites.
Mobile applications typically use software development kits (or “SDKs”) instead of cookies. SDKs are,
essentially, a set of tools integrated into an app that “run in the background” to enable certain
internal or external functionality.
We use SDKs as follows:
Fraud Detection/Security SDKs
We use SDKs that collect usage information in order to detect fraudulent behaviour. They detect
suspicious patterns of behaviour that may present a risk of abuse by malicious actors (e.g.,
fraudulent accounts, unauthorized access, attempts to steal points or credentials). We consider
these as necessary to provide a safe service for you and us.
We use SDKs that help us enable, and analyse the effectiveness of, our advertisements on other properties, such as (a) displaying push notifications to you that open up to specific pages on the App and (b when you click on a banner on our website to download or access our app, “attributing” that banner to the app download/launch.
We undertake A/B testing and general audience analytics to improve the user experience; in other
words, we will want to test how users interact with different versions of our App so that we
understand what changes will result in the best experience for you.
We also use SDKs that report error crashes or monitor the App’s performance so that we can
remedy any issues related to the same.
If you have any concerns about our use of cookies, you can take action to prevent them from being
set, such as by changing your browser settings to block certain types of cookies.
You can also use our Cookie Consent mechanism to exercise your choice for cookies or SDKs,
respectively, depending on if you’re using the Website or App (however, note that necessary
cookies/SDKs cannot be opted out of through this mechanism).
You may also delete cookies stored on your device at any time by going to the appropriate settings
within your web browser.
For detailed information on how to do take such actions within your browser, look in your browser’s
help information or visit the below link for an overview of how to block or delete cookies on the
most common browsers: http://www.allaboutcookies.org
Please note that if you use your browser settings to refuse all cookies, you will not be able to use
core Website functionality and your general user experience will be affected
Should our use of cookies or SDKs change in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy and notify
you appropriately before such use (including obtaining your consent, as applicable).
For any further queries or information related to this Cookie Policy, please write to
support@travelcation.uk with the subject line, “Cookie Policy.”
